A stage adaptation of the hugely popular British TV series, which revisits the 1950's and Maplins Holiday Camp with its host of colourful characters.

It's the start of a new season and founder Joe Maplin announces that he is setting up a camp in the Bahamas and needs female yellowcoats (entertainers) to go and work there. The annual "Miss Yellowcoat" competition will decide who. Imagine the rivalry!

Camp cleaner Peggy, meanwhile, is thrilled at the prospect of a vacancy for a new yellowcoat and convinces Entertainments Manager Jeffrey that she is the ideal candidate for the job.

Ted is forced to employ numerous money-making schemes when his ex wife turns up at the camp with a bailiff in tow and Yvonne and Barry Stuart-Hargreaves send the rumour mill into its usual overdrive when Gladys is overheard escorting Jeffrey into his chalet late one evening. Hi-de-hi, campers!

Do I have to learn the lines for the audition?

No, learning the script is not necessary for auditions. Print it off and bring it with you or we will have scripts available too. It's a good idea to read through it a few times at home, if you know some of the words it'll be easier to get into character at the audition.

I'm new to am dram - can I still get involved?

Absolutely! There are plenty of smaller roles if you are new to acting and we need lots of help off stage too with props, scenery, front of house, stage management, costumes and sound and lighting. We are a friendly bunch and are always looking for new members to join the group.

Do I have to mimic the characters from the TV show?

It would be great if you could have the essence of the character but we are not looking for an exact replica - we want to see your interpretation. If your character has an accent we would like you to have a go at that accent if you can.

I want to get involved but won't be able to attend many rehearsals on Fridays.

Given that it is a tight rehearsal schedule we will need your commitment, the main cast need to attend the vast majority of rehearsals. You would need to audition for a smaller role or help backstage if you cannot attend all of the rehearsals. Please let Jason know if you cannot attend any of the rehearsals.

I don't really know anything about Hi-De-Hi, what is it?

You can read more about the show in the About the Play section on this website. It's also worth having a look at some clips of the sitcom on YouTube.

I'm really nervous but still want to join the group and have a go.

Everyone gets nervous, especially at auditions. We're not West End but we have fun and it's a really supportive, friendly group.
